Now who ever said Americans don’t get irony? (Alanis Morissette didn’t but she is Canadian). Is this front page on the New York Post irony beyond my own ironic capabilities? Or are they missing the point?
Generally the Americans I have met are unbelievably funny and highly intelligent. However American newspapers are well renowned for not given 2 bits worth of interest in anything that goes on outside the US, don’t use irony and never put football on the back pages.
Part of me thinks this is the greatest headline i have ever seen, the other part of me thinks “hang on…”
Is the New York Post being Ironic here? Or are they taking the piss? It leaves far too many questions for me…
I’m all for taking the mickey out of the England team, in fact i’m all for taking the mickey out of the English, we generally deserve it. The England team are usually awful and our expectations turn to hopelessness quicker than you can say Stefan Kuntz. But when taking the piss out of our boys, always remember the first rule of comedy…
Rules of Comedy Number 1. = Be funny.
I don’t believe this rule has been adhered to in for the plethora of Robert Green “jokes” doing the rounds. They are all horrible forced gags – and i have particular annoyance for this one from obviously America. Despite its large amount of thumbs up in Stumbleupon and Digg IT IS NOT FUNNY.
Like with Christmas (and all other occasions we get suckered into) the World Cup means that all football related tat resonates to our high street stores, like tramps resonating to cardboard boxes on the Southbank at night.
This World Cup has to have more junk and flim-flam than you can shake a St Georges coated stick at.
We Are The Rulers – A collaboration between Disturb Media and English Ska band No.1 Station is the best England World Cup song and Video EVER. Well done to Finger-jam’s mates down at Disturb. – Go to the shops now and buy We Are The Rulers
It is being reported that Channel Four, who failed to invite some of the most popular ex-housemates of past Big Brothers has angered fans.
The most complaints have come from the Fan base of Randy Andy Davidson who starred in the very first Big Brother. It is claimed they are “disgusted” at the snub, and will take further action.
